AI Solves Thousands of Complex Math Problems: A New Step from OpenAI
OpenAI has announced that a new artificial intelligence model, which has not yet been released to the general public, successfully solved hundreds of complex mathematical problems.
On October 6, the company published a large collection on GitHub containing 372 interconnected mathematical solutions and proofs. The move sparked new concerns and broad discussion within the mathematics community.
According to the information provided, the AI was given nearly 4,000 complex problems during testing.
Taking earlier criticism from the scientific community into account, the company cited relevant sources for the topics and briefly explained the reasoning process the AI used to solve 10 of the problems.
In this way, OpenAI sought to address doubts that arose after its earlier claim concerning a solution to the Navier–Stokes equations, one of the million-dollar “Millennium Prize Problems.”
