Roma Football Club to Begin Construction of New Stadium

Roma football club has received permission to build a new stadium in Rome’s Pietralata district.

Construction of the new 60,600-seat stadium is expected to be completed by 2029.

Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri said that obtaining the construction permit marks the beginning of a new stage in the project’s implementation.

Since 1953, Roma has played its home matches at the Stadio Olimpico. Another Rome-based club, Lazio, also plays its home games at the same venue.

The 70,600-seat Stadio Olimpico is owned by the Italian National Olympic Committee.
