Daniel Carvajal Signs Contract with Getafe

Former Real Madrid defender Daniel Carvajal will continue his career with Spanish club Getafe.

The 34-year-old footballer has signed a contract with his new club running until June 30, 2027.

The move faced some difficulties due to La Liga’s financial restrictions. The issue was the significant reduction in the player’s salary: while he earned around €10 million per year at Real Madrid, his salary at Getafe is expected to fall to approximately €400,000.

La Liga monitors such major salary reductions in order to prevent possible hidden payments and tax avoidance. Nevertheless, the parties reached an agreement with the organization and officially completed the transfer.

Carvajal joined his new team as a free agent. He had played for Real Madrid since 2013 and won a total of 26 trophies with the club.
