Preparations Underway for International Summits in Awaza

A meeting was held in the Awaza National Tourist Zone between Serdar Muhammetdurdyyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Denis Trefilov, Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The meeting included an exchange of views on key matters of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the CIS.

Particular attention was given to preparations for events scheduled to take place in the Awaza National Tourist Zone in October this year, within the framework of Turkmenistan’s 2026 CIS chairmanship. The sides discussed organizational issues related to preparing the events and areas of mutual cooperation.

Following the meeting, a Protocol was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to coordinate preparations for the meetings of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and Council of Heads of State, which will be held on October 7 and 9, 2026, in the Awaza National Tourist Zone.
