Theater Competition Held in Turkmenistan

The Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan jointly held a successful theater competition among the country’s theaters titled “Independence Is My Wing, My Homeland Is My Sanctuary.”

The stage productions skillfully reflected the country’s achievements during the years of sacred Independence, traditions shaped throughout the Turkmen people’s centuries-old history, and such noble values as patriotism, courage and humanism.

Based on the jury’s decision, which included distinguished directors, experienced actors and professor-instructors, the Grand Prix went to the Alp Arslan National Drama Theater of Turkmenistan for its production People’s Memory. First place was awarded to the Aman Gulmammedov State Drama Theater of Arkadag City for The Legend of Unity, while second place went to the Main Academic Drama Theater of Turkmenistan named after Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi for The Patron. Third place was shared by the Kemine State Drama Theater of Mary Region for Turkmen Sultan and the A. S. Pushkin State Russian Drama Theater for Hear Me!.
