Turkmenistan Adopts Law on State Protection of Akhal-Teke Horses

The President of Turkmenistan signed the Law “On the State Protection of Akhal-Teke Horses in Turkmenistan.”

The law defines the legal, organizational, and economic foundations for the protection of Akhal-Teke horses, which are recognized as a national treasure of the Turkmen people.

According to the law, its main objectives include preserving purebred Akhal-Teke horses and their gene pool, which have played a significant role in the historical and cultural life of the Turkmen people for millennia and continue to hold major importance at the state level today, increasing their population, preserving the art of Akhal-Teke horse breeding and traditions of horse decoration, collecting manuscripts and other written sources about Akhal-Teke horses, safeguarding them, and studying them on a scientific basis.

The law also provides for the development of scientific research related to Akhal-Teke horses, the publication and translation of scientific and popular-science works and articles dedicated to them, as well as the creation of theatrical performances, films, musical works, folk art, video materials, television films, and television and radio programs devoted to Akhal-Teke horses, along with the development of international cooperation in this field.

The law entered into force from the moment it was signed.
