Trump Gives Artificial Intelligence a New Name

U.S. President Donald Trump said that artificial intelligence should henceforth be referred to as “superintelligence.” In his view, the word “artificial” creates the misleading impression that it refers to something fake or not genuine.

The American leader’s speech at the UN General Assembly was posted on the White House YouTube channel.

Trump had previously also spoken about the possible creation of artificial intelligence forces similar to the Space Force established during his first presidential term.

He described AI technology as a “new industrial revolution” that could eventually account for up to 25% of U.S. gross domestic product and said he opposed calls to slow its development.
