Nasal Drops Developed to Improve Attention

Moscow 11th-grade student Denis Kachanov developed experimental nasal drops based on fonturacetam.

Fonturacetam is a drug with nootropic effects and is also used to improve memory, attention, and other cognitive abilities. It is usually taken orally.

However, the student decided to study the possibility of administering the drug through the nose. One of the main challenges was that fonturacetam is very poorly soluble in water.

Denis selected additional substances and managed to prepare a clear, uniform solution without sediment.

The next stage was a study conducted at the K. M. Lakin Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Education of the Russian State Medical University. The student compared the results of nasal administration with the conventional oral method.
