Shahzadbek Matyakubov Wins Silver at the Asian Games in Japan

Twenty-two-year-old Turkmen weightlifter Shahzadbek Matyakubov delivered a successful performance at the 20th Asian Games, being held in Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, and won the silver medal in the men’s up to 110 kg category.

The final competition took place on September 29 at the Nagoya City Trade and Industry Center.

Shahzadbek lifted 188 kg in the snatch and 222 kg in the clean and jerk. With a total of 410 kg, he secured the silver medal in the men’s competition.

The athlete was trained by national team head coach Meretguly Sahetmyradov.
