Uzbekistan Wins World Chess Olympiad for the Second Time

Uzbekistan’s national chess team scored 19 points at the 46th World Chess Olympiad held in Samarkand and won the gold medals. This is the second Olympic title for the Uzbekistan national team.

They first won the tournament in 2022 in Chennai, India.

The Uzbek chess players began the competition with seven consecutive victories. Among them were wins over one of their main rivals, India, by a score of 2.5–1.5, and China by 3–1.

In the eighth round, the hosts unexpectedly lost to Germany, making the battle for first place even more intense.
