Turkmenistan’s Representative Attends Conference in Kuala Lumpur
A representative of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the regional conference titled “Parliamentary Leadership for the Future: A Whole-of-Society Approach to Economic and Demographic Resilience,” held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The conference aimed to strengthen parliamentarianism and openness; exchange experience and advanced knowledge in national legislation; enhance young people’s political and civic engagement; involve them more broadly in public administration and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals; expand international cooperation; ensure rapid communication through digital technologies; strengthen demographic resilience; promote gender equality; expand women’s rights and opportunities; and advance interparliamentary cooperation and joint approaches in these areas.
In a speech at the conference, the representative of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan noted that the country’s state policy is primarily aimed at safeguarding human rights and freedoms, ensuring public well-being, supporting families and young people, promoting gender equality and achieving demographic development.
