Traces of Ice Age Hunting Discovered

In the North Bohemia region of the Czech Republic, archaeologists have discovered more than 3,500 animal remains dating back to the Ice Age. Among them are the bones of at least 20 woolly mammoths.

The finds were uncovered during the construction of a Palace of Justice in the Bukov district of Ústí nad Labem.

At the excavation site, which covers an area of about 1,000 square meters, researchers also found remains of woolly rhinoceroses, horses, reindeer, and hares.

Archaeologists also discovered stone tools dating to the Late Gravettian period, including scrapers, cutting tools, and knives.
