Google Begins Taking Pre-Orders for Its First “Googlebook” Laptops

The devices run on a new operating system called “Googlebook OS,” built on Android technology and incorporating developments from “ChromeOS.”

Prices for the new devices start at $899. The first models are being produced by well-known global companies including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

Sales will begin on October 4 in the United States and on October 5 in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia.

Google also promises to provide system updates for ten years.
