Training Seminar Held for Hydrometeorologists

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), with the participation of a representative of Turkmenistan’s Hydrometeorological Service, held a training seminar on using modern information technologies in early warning systems.

Seminar participants learned about the work of the Swiss Steering Committee for Measures Against Natural Hazards (LAINAT), as well as Switzerland’s early warning system for various natural disasters. They also became familiar with impact-based forecasting (IBF) and its automated tool.

The discussions focused on identifying high-risk areas through monitoring sand and dust events, forecasting droughts, and preparing weather forecasts related to extremely high temperatures.
