Brazilian Scientists Discover Earth-Like Planets

Brazilian researcher Fabio Calabria Evangelista da Silva analyzed data on 6,000 objects in space and identified eight exoplanets where liquid water could potentially exist and life might emerge.

The planet considered most similar to Earth is GJ 1002b, discovered in 2022. Its similarity to Earth is estimated at 98%.

The planet is located 16 light-years away from us and orbits a red dwarf star once every 10 days.

It is not yet possible to study distant exoplanets directly. Therefore, scientists analyze their atmospheres with the help of telescopes.

Astrophysicists are searching for biosignatures — chemical traces that may be left by the activity of living organisms.
