A document regulating the import and export of animals has been approved in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan has approved procedures regulating the import and export of wildlife objects, their parts and products made from them, including animal species classified as rare and endangered. The relevant procedures were approved by Order No. 140-Ö issued by the Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan on July 14, 2026.

According to the document, animals may be imported into Turkmenistan or exported from the country for the following purposes:

1. conducting scientific research;
2. participating in international exhibitions and fairs;
3. exchanges between zoos, including exchanges involving rare species;
4. personal purposes, including keeping animals at home.

When animals are imported into Turkmenistan or exported from the country, all legal entities and individuals must comply with veterinary and sanitary safety requirements, established rules, regulations and hygiene standards.
