Caspian Sea Day was widely celebrated in the Avaza National Tourist Zone

A scientific and practical conference entitled “Protection of the Caspian Sea Ecosystem: Regional Cooperation and Sustainable Development” was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. It served as the main event marking Caspian Sea Day. The conference brought together members of the Government, heads and representatives of relevant ministries and sectoral agencies, specialists from related institutions and scientific organizations, as well as representatives of foreign embassies in Turkmenistan and international and regional organizations.

Ahead of the conference, an exhibition was arranged in the hotel lobby showcasing the natural beauty of the Caspian Sea and Turkmenistan’s achievements in environmental protection. The presentations also covered the work carried out by the country’s relevant agencies within the framework of interstate and intergovernmental agreements approved by the five Caspian littoral states. Representatives of foreign embassies, international organizations and regional institutions also addressed the event.

As participants noted, the Caspian Sea, as a sea of friendship, peace, security, cooperation and accord, connects the economic potential and historical ties of the countries of the region. Particular attention was drawn to the significance of the Avaza Programme of Action for 2024–2034 and the Avaza Political Declaration adopted within the framework of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
