TAPI Project: Serhetabat–Herat section is nearing completion

Construction of the Serhetabat–Herat gas pipeline, known as “Arkadagyň ak ýoly” and forming an important part of the 153-kilometre Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India gas pipeline, is steadily advancing toward its final stage.

Geodetic survey and exploration work along the entire pipeline route has been fully completed, and the results have been submitted to the customer and contractors. Technical design documentation and construction drawings have been prepared in accordance with international standards.

To date, 120 kilometres of 1,422-millimetre-diameter pipes required for the entire pipeline route have been delivered to the construction site, and supply operations are continuing.

Most of the 25 contracts concluded for the project’s material and technical support and related services have been fully completed.

Customs clearance for most of the certified equipment has been completed, and the equipment has been delivered to the construction site in Afghanistan. Construction and installation work is being carried out with the involvement of around 300 units of modern specialized machinery.

So far, 140 kilometres of the pipeline route have been levelled, and a 123-kilometre inspection road has been constructed.

Welding and installation work has been completed on 117 kilometres of the pipeline, and the welded sections are being tested in stages using hydrostatic pressure.
