A representative of Turkmenistan took part in the regular meeting of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission

The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the 94th meeting of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission of Central Asia, held on August 7 in the city of Turkistan, Kazakhstan.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan Durdy Genjiyev, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Daler Juma, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, and Minister of Water Management of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamrayev.

The participants paid special attention to the implementation of proposals and initiatives of the Council of Heads of State — founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.

They also discussed the preparation of a draft Plan for introducing an automated water resources accounting system in the Syr Darya River basin.

The participants supported the preparation of this document. A decision was made to establish a special working group to consider this issue by September of this year.

The next, 95th meeting of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission of Central Asia will be held in Turkmenistan.
