Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Japan, A. Bayramov, took part in commemorative events held in Hiroshima and Nagasaki to mark the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombings of these cities.

The events were attended by the Prime Minister of Japan, the President of the Upper House of Parliament, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Japan.

In their remarks, the Japanese side emphasized the importance of preventing the use of nuclear weapons and continuing international efforts toward nuclear disarmament and the strengthening of peace.

During the commemorative events, the Ambassador laid flowers at memorials to those who lost their lives as a result of the atomic bombings of these Japanese cities and paid tribute to their memory.

As part of his visit, Ambassador A. Bayramov held meetings with the leaders of the cities and prefectures of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The Ambassador informed the Japanese side about Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, which is based on the principles of permanent Neutrality, peacefulness and dialogue.

He also noted that the adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution proclaiming 2028 as the “International Year of Law,” based on an initiative put forward by our country, is further evidence of Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening international law.
