New academic programmes are being introduced in Turkmenistan

Twenty new academic specialities and fields of study will be introduced at higher education institutions in Turkmenistan in the 2026–2027 academic year.

Ten specialities will be introduced under specialist degree programmes:

At the International Oil and Gas University named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev — machinery and equipment for oil and gas fields; metrology, standardisation and certification in the oil and gas sector.

At the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S. A. Niyazov — genetics, breeding and seed production of agricultural crops; water resources management using IT technologies.

At the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi — teacher education in Arabic language and literature and Turkmen language and literature; information systems and technologies; ecology; psychology; specialised education in defectology and psychology.

At the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan — information security of automated systems.

Four fields of study will be introduced under bachelor’s degree programmes:

At the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi — teacher education in physical education.

At the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs — artificial intelligence and expert systems; mechatronics and robotics.

At the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi — teacher education in Urdu, Turkmen language and literature. The first applicants will be admitted to these programmes.

Six fields of study will be introduced under master’s degree programmes:

At the International Oil and Gas University named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev — computer systems software; information security in the oil and gas sector; economics and management of the oil and gas industry.

At the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S. A. Niyazov — plant protection and biotechnology.

At the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan — economics and management of the fuel and energy sector.

At the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan — peace and neutrality.
