The President of Turkmenistan received the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
On July 28, the President of Turkmenistan received Ms Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, who was visiting the country.
During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan maintains productive cooperation in its foreign policy activities with authoritative international organisations, particularly those operating in the financial and banking sectors, and is implementing a social and economic development strategy aimed at improving the living standards of its people.
The President of Turkmenistan stated that the country has been a member of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for many years and has established effective cooperation with the Bank in the trade, economic, financial and banking sectors. Energy, transport, the digital economy and environmental protection were identified as key areas of bilateral cooperation.
Turning to the transport and logistics sector, the head of state stressed that Turkmenistan’s advantageous geographical location provides a solid foundation for developing interconnections between various modes of transport. He also noted that important work is being carried out to establish the multimodal and regionally significant North–South and East–West international transport corridors.
Turkmenistan also attaches great importance to diversifying cooperation in the energy sector. Programme-based work is under way in the field of clean and environmentally friendly green energy.
In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan noted that there are broad opportunities for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to participate in projects being implemented in Turkmenistan and in new initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and Ms Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation would continue to develop and exchanged best wishes.
