Gene therapy restores hearing in people with congenital deafness

Research has shown that gene therapy restores hearing in 90% of patients with congenital deafness.

The study was conducted in China. Hearing was restored in 38 of the 42 participants, while the remaining four showed no improvement.

Scientists are currently investigating the reasons for this response. Researchers at medical centres in China are continuing their work in this field.
