The delegation of Turkmenistan participated in a meeting held in Thailand

The 48th meeting of the Open-ended Working Group of the Parties (OEWG-48) and the 6th Extraordinary Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer were held in Bangkok.

During the meetings, representatives of the participating states discussed key issues concerning the further implementation of the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment. A delegation from Turkmenistan also took part in the meeting.

The representatives considered current scientific, technical and organisational matters related to protecting the ozone layer and implementing the Kigali Amendment. Particular attention was paid to strengthening regional monitoring of controlled substances in the atmosphere, improving the energy efficiency of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, and enhancing legislation on ozone-layer protection.

The meeting also addressed the recovery, recycling and safe disposal of refrigerants, the training and certification of specialists in the refrigeration sector, and the introduction of natural refrigerants and new technologies for sustainable cooling.

Consultations were held on preparations for the 38th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, in November 2026. The event is expected to mark the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Kigali Amendment.
