Results of Major AI Film Festival Announced in Astana
The results of the Astana AI Film Festival, an international competition for films created using artificial intelligence, have been announced in the capital of Kazakhstan.
The grand prize and $450,000 went to a Latvian creator. By the number of submissions received, the festival became the world’s largest international competition for AI-generated films.
The competition in Astana was held from October 1 to 3 and received 8,067 submissions from 125 countries. The selection committee chose 25 finalists.
Latvian creator Nikola Shestak won the grand prize and $450,000 for the film “The First Honest Day.” The film explores how a person’s actions affect their appearance, with evil making them ugly and goodness making them beautiful.
Second place and $200,000 went to India’s Abhik Banerjee for “SITARA,” while Spanish director Ernest Desumbila took third place and a $100,000 prize for “Looking For Perseida.”
