Meeting on Reducing Methane Emissions Held in Ashgabat
A consultative meeting dedicated to analyzing international standards and regulations on reducing methane emissions was held at the Natural Gas Research Institute in Ashgabat.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the project “European Union for Green Development of Turkmenistan: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action for 2024–2029,” implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and funded by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office.
The meeting discussed the use of an analytical approach to further develop Turkmenistan’s regulatory and legal framework and improve it in line with recognized modern international practices, including the EU Regulation on reducing methane emissions in the energy sector.
The meeting helped establish a clear methodological framework for adapting leading international practices to Turkmenistan’s national conditions.
