President of Turkmenistan Congratulates the Country’s Older Generation and the Entire Nation on the International Day of Older Persons

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent congratulations to the older generation and the entire people of independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons.

The congratulatory message reads:

Dear elders, dear mothers!
Dear compatriots!

I sincerely congratulate you on the International Day of Older Persons, which, together with the international community, is widely celebrated in our independent, permanently neutral Motherland as a holiday that honors universal human values and the lofty principles of humanism.

Deep respect for the older generation and honoring their dignity are fundamental principles of our national traditions rooted in millennia of history and of continuity between generations. Therefore, I firmly believe that in the year “Independent, Eternally Neutral Turkmenistan — the Land of the Swift Steed, the Fulfillment of Dreams,” when the glorious 35th anniversary of our sacred independence is being marked by events of national and international significance, celebrations dedicated to this international holiday will inspire our respected elders, dear mothers and all compatriots and further strengthen our love for our beloved Motherland.

In the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, the main objective of our domestic and foreign policy is to ensure that our dear people, especially our wise older generations who have passed through the great school of life, as well as our youth — the future of our Motherland — enjoy a prosperous, happy, peaceful and tranquil life, while strengthening the foundations of our state and society and further increasing the strength of our economy.

By successfully implementing long-term programs covering all sectors of the economy and reforms based on innovation, we are achieving remarkable success.

Our respected elders, whose lives have become an exemplary school and whose advice has become a lesson in morality, together with their wise counsel and rich life and work experience, are our support in strengthening the unity of society, educating our generations in the lofty spirit of patriotism and humanism, and confidently leading our country toward new heights of development along the bright path of construction and creation.

At the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan held on the eve of the glorious 35th anniversary of our sacred independence, important decisions on the development of our country and society were adopted on the basis of the valuable advice and proposals of our elders.

Representatives of the older generation who make a special contribution to strengthening unity and to educating accomplished individuals who raise the prestige of the Motherland through high morality, knowledge, work and professionalism, while setting a noble example in life, were awarded the title “Hormatly il ýaşulusy.” Awards were also presented to respected mothers who received the “Zenan kalby” Order.

Today, on the occasion of this international holiday of global significance, musical celebrations and meaningful cultural and public events are being held throughout our villages and cities in honor of the older generation — our elders and aksakals, mothers and grandmothers. All this is evidence of the respect we show to the older generation.

Dear people!

Turkmenistan is confidently moving forward along the path of political, economic, cultural and social development and large-scale reforms. Our principles of positive neutrality, peace-loving policy and good-neighborliness are recognized and supported throughout the world.

The main goal of our achievements is to further strengthen the foundations of the independence and neutrality of our beloved Motherland and to ensure a happy life for our people.

The high achievements reached by our country represent the fulfillment of the aspirations of our courageous ancestors for unity and solidarity, stability and prosperity, peace and friendship.

The inexhaustible spiritual strength and labor of our people, who have adopted the principle “The Motherland is a Motherland only with the people! The state is a state only with the people!” as their motto, together with the advice and guidance of the older generation, the enormous work carried out for the sake of prosperity, development and happiness, the modern cities and villages we continuously build and commission, and major industrial complexes equipped with advanced technologies ensure the dynamic development of our country.

Our goals of great importance to all humanity in the areas of peace, security, friendship and goodwill, mutual understanding and humanism further raise the prestige of our independent, permanently neutral state and united people throughout the world. They strengthen in each of our hearts the feeling of patriotism that firmly connects our past, present and future, inspiring us toward new progress and glorious victories.

Through the great initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and holder of the title “Hormatly il ýaşulusy,” Hero-Arkadag, the wise advice and guidance of our older generations — our dear mothers and wise elders — based on our national traditions and rich experience, help guarantee unity and tranquility in our society.
