I sincerely congratulate you on the Turkmen Alabay Holiday, which in the year “Independent, Eternally Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds” is solemnly celebrated in honour of the Turkmen Alabay, our national pride and treasured value.

The Turkmen Alabay is one of the most ancient dog breeds in the world, the pride of our courageous people, its treasure and national heritage.

Extensive work is being carried out in our country to breed Turkmen Alabays, which are distinguished by their intelligence, courage and sensitivity, to promote their fame throughout the world, and to consistently develop and improve the art of dog breeding. As a result, the worldwide reputation of our loyal, highly vigilant, courageous and fearless Alabays continues to grow.

In the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, every opportunity is being created to improve our national art of dog breeding, whose origins go back centuries.

The International “Turkmen Alabay Dogs” Association has been established to develop dog breeding in our country. This makes it possible to further expand international cooperation in this field with various countries around the world.

Extensive work is also being carried out to train specialists in this area. The complex of the International “Turkmen Alabay Dogs” Association has been provided with all the necessary conditions for holding international competitions of Turkmen Alabays.

Centers for Turkmen Alabays that meet international standards have been built in all velayats of the country and in Ashgabat. These centers provide dog breeders with all the necessary conditions to work in accordance with modern requirements.

Various competitions are organized annually in our country to mark the Turkmen Alabay Holiday. Alabays bred by our dog breeders participate in and are evaluated during the competition for the title “Courageous Turkmen Alabay of the Year”. This provides a wonderful opportunity to observe our remarkable Alabays.

Turkmen dog breeders are carrying out extensive work to preserve the purity of the breed of our Alabays — our national pride — and to increase their population.

In the future, we will continue to pay great attention to the development of dog breeding, the establishment of mutually beneficial international cooperation with countries around the world in this field, the exchange of experience, and the further improvement of the living and working conditions of our dog breeders.

In December 2025, at the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization — UNESCO — held in New Delhi, Republic of India, a historic decision was adopted to include the traditions of breeding Turkmen Alabay dogs in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This event became a clear sign of the international recognition of the national values of the Turkmen people, their rich cultural heritage and ancient dog-breeding traditions developed over centuries.

It is also of great importance for promoting the fame of Turkmen Alabays throughout the world, preserving the purity of their breed and passing our ancient traditions on to future generations.

Our Alabays, bred by our ancestors over centuries while preserving the purity of the breed and becoming a value of humanity, are among the finest pedigree dogs in the world.

Created through traditional selection and perfected over many years, Turkmen Alabays are a source of heartfelt pride for our people.

The friendship and loyalty between people and the Turkmen Alabay are also vividly reflected in our classical works. Our ancestors saw in our wonderful Alabay dogs outstanding symbols of strength, courage, fearlessness and loyalty.

Turkmen Alabays are a wonder of our ancient land, an adornment and protector of the sacred Turkmen hearth, and our priceless national pride.
