1,054 Citizens Pardoned in Turkmenistan

Following the principles of mercy and humanitarianism passed down by the great ancestors, and with the aim of further strengthening the unity and cohesion of Turkmen society and every family, as well as on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence, President of Turkmenistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree “On Pardoning Convicted Persons on the Occasion of the 35th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence.”

According to the document, 1,054 citizens were pardoned. They were released from further serving their principal sentence of imprisonment, as well as an additional sentence requiring them to reside in a specified place.
