Wheat Sowing Begins in Turkmenistan

Wheat sowing began in Turkmenistan on September 2. To mark the start of the winter wheat sowing campaign, practical meetings were held across the country with the participation of representatives of regional and district administrations, heads of farmers’ associations and agriculture-related institutions and enterprises, agronomists, machine operators, scientists, experienced tenant farmers and respected elders.

Under the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan “On Producing a Rich Wheat Harvest in Turkmenistan in 2027,” winter wheat will be sown across 690,000 hectares, with a total harvest target of 1.4 million tons.

Production targets include 400,000 tons in the Ahal Region, 80,000 tons in the Balkan Region, 265,000 tons in the Dashoguz Region, 310,000 tons in the Lebap Region and 345,000 tons in the Mary Region.

Along with other high-yielding wheat varieties, the Serdar, Arkadag and Pyragy varieties developed by the Grain Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture will also be planted in the country’s fields.
