As many as 64 national teams may participate in the next FIFA World Cup

FIFA plans to expand the 2030 World Cup to 64 national teams.

According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the 48-team format used for the first time at the 2026 World Cup proved successful.

It allowed more national teams to demonstrate their abilities in the tournament.
